Fantastic Foxes​​​​​​

A warm welcome to the Fantastic Foxes Year 2/3 Class.

The Fantastic Foxes are taught by Mrs Panting.

On our class page, we will celebrate our wonderful learning and there will be important information too.

 

Class Routines

Monday -

Tuesday - PE day

Wednesday - Change Read, Write Inc and Reading for Pleasure books

Friday - Maths Journal Books in school

 

 

 

P.E.

The children will have a P.E. lesson on Tuesday afternoons with Premier Sports. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their outdoor P.E. kit on Tuesdays.

 

 

Forest Schools

Forest Schools will take place every Friday during Terms 2,4 and 6.  

What will my child be doing?

The child-led ethos of Forest Schools means that once we are in the forest the children can choose what to participate in, carefully supported and encouraged by Mrs Panting. Possible activities may include;

· Hunting for mini beasts and/or pond dipping.

· Natural Crafts - making necklaces from elder, crowns or dream catchers from willow, collages from natural materials, weaving with long grasses etc.

· Mud and clay sculptures.

· Shelter building and knot tying.

· Low tree climbing.

· Using tools for a purpose - such as peeling bark from sticks with potato peelers to make toasting forks.

· Eventually fire building and cooking on a camp fire.

 

Homework:

 

  • Maths Homework Journal to be in school every Friday​

  • TT Rockstars – Children will be working on their 10, 5 and 2 times tables. There will be a test every Friday​

  • Reading – Please read with your child every day​

Our Topics 

 

Autumn Term - Movers and Shakers

This project teaches children about historically significant people who have had a major impact on the world. They will learn to use timelines, stories and historical sources to find out about the people featured and use historical models to explore their significance.

Spring Term  - Magnificent Monarchs

This project teaches children about the English and British monarchy from AD 871 to the present day. Using timelines, information about royal palaces, portraits and other historical sources, they build up an understanding of the monarchs and then research six of the most significant sovereigns.

Summer Term - Coastlines

This project teaches children about the physical and human features of coastal regions across the United Kingdom, including a detailed exploration of the coastal town of Whitby, in Yorkshire
