Term 3: Long Ago
In the Long Ago project your child will learn about their history and how they have changed from when they were babies. They will learn about their family history and heritage and find out what life was like when their grandparents were children. They will learn about what it was like to go to school in the past and how everyday objects, such as clothes, toys and vehicles have changed.
Supporting your child at home
- Look at photographs of the children as babies and discuss how they have grown and changed.
- Look at family photographs so the children can see family members when they were children.
- Talk about what your life was like when you were a child.
- Share and discuss the Did you know? resource.

RWI
The children are now divided into 4 groups for RWI. They will be taught by myself, Mrs Markham, Mrs Dammes or Mrs Richardson.
Please ensure you are watching the RWI videos each week and either practising the sounds in the green books or reading the Story Books.
You will continue to receive your weekly e-mail with the sounds your child has learnt that week.
Super 6
Each half term we have our Super 6 books and Super 6 rhymes. These are books and rhymes we become really familiar with and focus on vocabulary.

A few reminders...
Monday
- Forest School. Please ensure the children are prepared for the winter weather and have waterproof coats, trousers, hat, scarf, gloves and wellies. Please also ensure they have an inside pair of shoes too to keep the classroom clean and dry.
Tuesday
- PE day. Please come to school in School PE kit and trainers.
Wednesday
- Please return your Reading for Pleasure book on a Wednesday. The children will be issued with a new Reading for Pleasure book for the week. This is for you to read and share with your child. They will also have a small green sounds book in their reading packet and some children will have a blending book. These are for you to practise the sounds at home.
- You will receive Read Write Inc Virtual Classrooms videos to practise their sounds at home. Please try to access all the videos during the week.
What to bring
- Warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves
- Water bottle
- Wellies to leave in school
- Reading folder
- Fruit snack (If you want to. We provide fruit everyday)
Term 2: Marvellous Machines
In the Marvellous Machines project, your child will learn about technology that is part of their daily lives. They will explore various machines, learn about how machines help us and find out about how machines have changed and developed over time. They will learn about products that use electricity to make them work and explore magnetic and non-magnetic materials.
Supporting your child at home
- Talk about the machines and technology you use in your everyday lives.
- Look for things in the home that are powered by electricity.
- Look for items that are powered by batteries.
- Share and discuss the Did you know? resource.
Term 1: Let's Explore
In the Let’s Explore project, your child will explore their class environment and school grounds so that they feel settled and happy in their new surroundings. They will learn about the local environment and find out about places they have visited on holiday. They will look at and create maps for journeys.
Supporting your child at home
- Use Google Earth to explore the locality.
- Go on a walk around your local community and talk about the things that you see.
- Encourage your child to talk about the activities they enjoy doing at school.
- Share and discuss the Did you know? resource.
