Consultation on the Admission Policy from September 2027 for
Bassingham Primary School

What are we consulting on?
Aspire Schools Trust and Bassingham Primary School are consulting on the school’s admission arrangements for pupils who will be starting in Reception Class from September 2027. All admission policies must be consulted upon at least once every 7 years, and it has been 7 years since our last consultation. There are no proposals to change the admission number or make any other significant changes.

Who are we consulting with?
The School Admissions Code 2021 requires that all admission authorities undertake a statutory consultation to seek the views and comments of anyone who may be affected by the Policy.  The consultation will run for 6 weeks, commencing 20 October and closing on 1 December 2025.  A copy of the School Admission Code 2021 can be found at: here.

How can you respond to the consultation?
You can respond to the consultation in writing or by email to the details below:

Mrs J Guest, Governance and Compliance Officer
Bassingham Primary School
Lincoln Road
Bassingham
Lincolnshire
LN5 9HQ

Email: [email protected]
The closing date for responses is 1 December 2025.

What happens next?
At the conclusion of the consultation, all responses received will be collated and presented to the Aspire Trust Board in December 2025 for full consideration.  The Trust (as the admissions authority) will then determine Bassingham Primary School’s final admission arrangements for 2027–2028.  The outcome of the consultation will be posted on the school’s website along with the final Admissions Policy for 2027-28.

Admissions Information

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below and the appropriate policies.

Admission Timetable – Including Appeals

16th April – National Offer Day – you can collect your offer online or on the day letters are posted informing parents of which school they have been offered a place at.

14th May, Noon – deadline for the receipt of appeals.

How to Appeal

Should you fail to receive an offer of a place at Bassingham Primary School, you have the right to appeal to an independent Appeals Panel, whose decisions are binding on the school and the local authority.

Appeals should be addressed in writing (using the Admission Appeal Form) to the Clerk to Governors at the school within 20 school days of receiving the decision letter.  The envelope should be clearly marked “Admission Appeal”. The appeal will be heard within 30 school-days of the deadline for receipt of appeal applications.

Parents/carers will receive written notification of the date and time of their appeal hearing, which they can attend to explain their case. This will include a final deadline for submitting any additional information. If they wish, parents may be accompanied by an adviser or friend. Following the appeal, the Clerk to the Governors will write to parents with the decision.

Please note that Bassingham Primary School will not accept repeat appeals for places in the same academic year, unless there are significant and material changes in the circumstances of the parent, child or school which could warrant a further application.  Such circumstances could include moving house or for medical reasons.

In accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code 2022 , the Aspire Schools Trust Board (as the admission authority for Bassingham Primary School) must set a timetable for organising and hearing admission appeals. The timetable will apply to appeals for admission to Sir William Robertson Academy.

Appeals in respect of late applications will generally be heard within 40 school-days of the appeal being received by the school. Appeals in respect of in-year applications will be heard within 30 school-days of receipt.

Appellants (the person(s) lodging an appeal) will receive a letter notifying them of the date, time and venue of the appeals panel appointed to hear their appeal at least 10 school days before the hearing.

Appellants and the admission authority must provide the clerk to the appeals panel with any documents they wish to submit to the panel no later than 6 working days before the hearing.

The clerk to the panel will send to the panel, the appellants and the admission authority all the documentary evidence to be considered at the hearing at least 5 working days before the hearing.

The clerk to the panel will send a letter to the appellants and the admission authority notifying them of the panel’s decision and the reasons for the decision within 5 working days of the hearing wherever possible.
