Enjoying Learning, Achieving Success

Term Dates/School Day

The recently published DfE White Paper sets out the expectation that schools should deliver a school week of at least 32.5 hours by September 2023 for all pupils. As a result of this updated guidance, please see below regarding our school day at Bassingham Primary School.

Start of the Day (8.50am – 9.00am)

  • The school gate will be opened by either Mr Betts or Mrs McClymont
  • Pupils will walk sensibly onto the school playground as normal to meet their friends
  • Parents/carers are also welcome to accompany their children onto the school playground
  • This is not mandatory and pupils can still walk onto the school playground by themselves
  • All class teachers will be on the school playground from 8.50am – 9.00am each morning
  • The whistle will be blown at 9.00am where children will line up with their relevant classes
  • All parents/carers are to leave the school site via the Japanese Garden
  • Please leave promptly so that we can get all of the children into school on time
  • The school gate will be closed just after 9.00am

End of the Day (3.30pm)

  • All pupils will finish school at 3.30pm each day and will leave via the normal gate
  • Our youngest children will leave first in a staggered fashion
  • As a result, please arrive from 3.25pm onwards so that this runs as smoothly as possible

In order for drop off and collection to run as smoothly as possible, please consider the following:

  • Where possible, wait on the grass area next to the Tennis Courts
  • Arriving at school by foot will minimise congestion
  • Pupils can arrive on their bikes/scooters but storage is minimal at school
  • We would encourage parents/carers to take bikes/scooters home after dropping their children off
  • Be mindful of safety in the school car park during these busy times
  • Please ensure your child is supervised before and after school to avoid any accidents
